The Presbyterian Church of Floyd is proud of
its musical heritage, and the variety of musical
talents that make up its congregation.
In addition to choir music during Sunday worship
and special services, additional music in the
form of keyboard, guitar, violin and acapella
singing is common at our church! Congregational
members are encouraged to contribute their special
musical gifts not only during special services
but during regular worship as well.
Sandra Smith - Musical Director
Sandra Smith has been with the Presbyterian
Church of Floyd as church organist and choir
director for 38 years.
She attended Radford University where she obtained
her undergraduate and master's degrees in music
and education. She has attended workshops at
Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New
Jersey, and studied organ, hand bells, and choral
music. In Cambridge, England, she studied with
John Rutter, a leading choral director and teacher
in Europe.
Sandra also teaches choral music at Floyd County
High School and continues to work with both
church and school. She also makes time for musical
projects in the community such as the holiday
Madrigal dinner, Community Chorus, and graduation
events at the high school.
Our choir, under the direction
of Mrs. Smith, meets every Wednesday evening
at 7:00 pm for practice. The PCOF choir is open
to anyone who wishes to join!
